Abigail Bradford

Abigail Bradford is a PhD candidate at the University of Virginia researching the archaeology of ancient Greek music. Her dissertation analyzes the representation of musicians in 6th and 5th c. BCE Athenian vase-painting in order to trace the effects of “New Music” on musical and political ideologies in the ancient city. In addition to vase-painting, Abigail also studies sensory archaeology and fragments of musical instruments from archaeological excavations, specifically those found in ancient Corinth.

Abigail is a member of The Call of Kinnaru where she plays the aulos and percussion alongside John Franklin (lyre, voice) and Rachel Fickes (lyre, voice). Abigail has traveled widely with The Call of Kinnaru and has performed in Chicago (IL), Philadelphia (PA), Williamstown (MA), Fredericksburg (VA), Charlottesville (VA), Lecce (Italy), Tarquinia (Italy), and Oxford (UK).
